Change

Change. Why do people fight it? It happens to our bodies on a daily basis as we age. It happens in our friendships and relationships as we grow. And it happens at our jobs on a day to day basis.

How boring would life be if everything was predictable? Never meeting anyone new, never trying new foods, knowing absolutely everything about your significant other, having no surprises…. I think I would cry. But on the other hand, when we are presented with change, it is the most common reaction to fight it.

When we grow up in a structured environment, we are given certain expectations. For example, school. When you are in school, you are given certain tasks from your teacher. And depending on your performance you either get a grade or you move to the next level. But what if you have passed all your classes, and graduated from college and are moving to the real world. What then? No one prepares you for the organizational structure in a business, because there is no ONE structure. Sure, there are college courses that teach you about types of structure but actually experiencing them in a day to day business environment is a different story.

I work in a company where you are allowed to express your opinions. Where you count as a person and you have the ability to make change. Today when my team was presented with the opportunity for change, I was witness to many different reactions from individuals that are close to me. I saw people in anger, people in excitement, and people that had no idea how to react. So many different reactions, because change affects everyone differently.

If we can just remember that we will never truly have control over every situation, I think we will be happier people. Changes can occur at any given moment, bringing us new challenges. The only thing we can control is hoe we REACT to change. So we should focus on our reactions and CONTROL how that change will impact us rather than live life trying to keep an unattainable never evolving pace. We must grasp that the inevitable changes in our futures are simply in Gods hands.

Quote of the Day: “Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future.”

I miss you girls! I have some of my best college memories with you in them. While we are all growing up and taking different paths, you will always be my girls! I love you and miss you all.
